Happy hump day.
The dating world is a confusing and scary game and no one had ever told me the rules. Texting someone “you up? ;)” was never my style, so I wrote a song instead. Originally the chorus sang “I could be your Wednesday Girl” but it never felt quite right, and with the band’s unwavering support I changed the hook to ‘boy’ and it’s been a favourite ever since.
lyrics
Verse 1:
We’ve been hitting send for three days.
I’m going cross eyed, I wait.
I don’t wanna hear her name.
I talk big game.
Get the nightclub twittering up in flames.
Dive in, head first.
Rush in, get hurt?
I wanna go back to yours, I don’t wanna cuddle at all.
Tell me about your fam, looking glam, no roommates? Damn.
Did you just touch my leg?
Let’s hurry back to bed.
You’re talking real slow.
My guard is getting low.
But the rum is a frothing,
And it ain’t frothing for nothing!
So take me back to yours,
Kiss me on the floor.
Stop looking at your watch,
You can’t kiss me on the clock.
Chorus
Yeah! Put me on your rotation, baby.
I could be your Wednesday Boy.
Your Wednesday Boy.
Verse 2
I haven’t slept in a week.
And my tummy’s dancing a rumba,
I wish I didn’t have your number.
Cause I thought of another question,
That you didn’t answer
And I could do this for hours,
I know I shouldn’t buy flowers.
I’m googling how to hook up,
Googling how to look hot.
I’m reading up on the rhymes,
Reading up on the times!
I know I shouldn’t get attached, and I’m not.
But you’re hot!
Wanna fuck until the cows come home and watch?
CHORUS
Yeah! Put me on your rotation, baby.
I could be your Wednesday Boy.
Your Wednesday Boy.
Verse 3
Real talk, I’m a sucker, cheese ball, poet.
You told me I had nice eyes,
And I’m about to blow it.
You had a nice arse, and a nice laugh.
I wanna know if you’ve got a nice heart!
Friends are telling me how to play it,
“She’s got the power, don’t you dare say it!”
But you can run the show,
Just give me one more go.
I want the encore,
She’s got me wanting more!
